Girly Bits - November COTM Polishes

Girly Bits has been putting out the most gorgeous polishes lately! For the November edition of the Colours of the Month series, Girly Bits released The Fuchsia is Ours and Everyday I'm Truffling. They are both really unique and oh so pretty. I am completely obsessed with The Fuchsia is Ours and I am sure you can see why...

I am wearing 2 easy, peasy coats of The Fuchsia is Ours which is a bright pink holo with gold and orange shimmer. The shimmer in this is so unique and works so so well with the linear holo. I finished this off with top coat but it was super shiny on its own.

The second half of the duo is Everyday I'm Truffling which is a medium grey crelly with gold and pink shifting shimmer and purple shimmer. I can't really tell that this is a crelly as it seemed more like a cream but it's stunning anyway with the shimmer. I don't usually like grey polishes but this works really well on me with the pink and gold shimmer.

Hurry! These are still available at Harlow & Co.

Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer - Oy! Stupid Face

In my humble opinion, nothing beats bubblegum pink nails. Oy! Stupid Face from Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer is the most bubblegummy bubblegum pink of all... it's a hot bubblegum pink with blue/purple and blue/green flakies. I love it so so so much. I am wearing 3 coats plus top coat. It was a bit goopy to apply but perhaps I will try thinning it next time :) It's so beautiful that I know I will wear it again and again or until the bottle runs out.

I received this a surprise in a nail package from a lovely lady a few months ago after she heard about the rough year I was having. Sometimes the generosity of strangers catches me off guard and warms my calloused heart just a little bit. Thank you to all the good human beings out there, no matter where you are or who you are.

Girly Bits - The Indie Shop November 2016 Polishes

Prepare to be blinded by some holo Gliry Bits made for The Indie Shop in Torrance, CA this past November. Two polishes were Limited Edition and one was Exclusive to the event. I am not sure if any are available for sale now but check out the Girly Bits website in case!

First up is One Is Never An Oeuf is an amazing turquoise linear holo with teal and gold shimmer. This one really pops. It's also a dream to apply. Two easy coats plus top coat.

Next, I have Merci! which is a deep forest green linear holo with some blue sparks. I can't remember if this is one coat or two but I know enough that it was a dream to apply. So rich and pigmented!

Lastly is Oh La La which is so complex and freaking sparkly! It's a clear base packed with red, violet and silver holographic microglitter, pink shimmer and ultra chrome flakes that shift from red to bronze to purple. I am wearing 3 coats plus top coat but it builds up really well and isn't too chunky. Yay!

Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer Holiday Nails!

If you haven't already gathered, Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer is probably my favorite brand of nail polish ever. I have one FULL drawer in my Helmer dedicated to BEGL plus overflow into the front half of another drawer. Yes, I've exceeded 150 BEGLs at this point. My name is Caitlin and I'm a nail polish addict.

Almost two years ago I won the cutest Christmas duo of BEGL polishes from Polished at Heart which is another blog run by two sisters. The two polishes are Merry Christmas Reading Room! and Rainbow Room Christmas Rumpus! The former is a sparkly deep bright linear holo red with teeny microglitters. The latter is a pink crelly with metallic and holo glitters. The cutest duo! I am so thankful and happy to have this custom set of BEGLs in my stash!

I have been waiting for Christmas to come around again for a second time to wear these for the first time. Last Christmas was a bit of a shitshow as my mom was in hospital from Christmas Eve until New Year. This year is equally shitty as our Nan died and now our Grandad is in the throws of rapidly progressing Alzheimer's. And our relatives have all but officially abandoned us! Merry Christmas, all! I definitely don't have the Christmas spirit in me this year but my nails would fool anyone ;)

Enough about our sad lives, onto the mani details:

Index and Middle - Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer He Has A Little Woman (ONE COAT!!)
Ring - Merry Christmas Reading Room (2 coats)
Pinky - Rainbow Room Christmas Rumpus (2 coats)
Thumb - Cupcake Polish The Bean (2 coats)

Finished off with 1 coat of HK Girl Top Coat which I finally used for the first time and it's amazing. I need a massive refill bottle now!

Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer - Prototype + ILNP My Private Rainbow (X)

Well, it's almost Christmas and I have had naked nails for almost 2 weeks. So much for all my mani ideas!! Here's a festive Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer prototype. It reminds me of lights in the snow.

I love the matte white glitters and multi-coloured glitters in primary colours. I wanted a bit more sparkle and pizzaz so I added one coat of ILNP My Private Rainbow (X) for some extra holo! I am wearing 2 thin coats plus one coat of ILNP and two layers of top coat... that's a lot of layers. My cuticles and nails have been brutalized as I was working on holiday baskets for young moms and their babies because I have an awesome new job! It's totally worth the sacrifice to my nails. I will be able to take better care of them in the new year when all the baskets are done :)

Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer - I Fought For My Soul

The time for red nails has come. It's less than one week until Christmas and I just can't believe it! Here is a gorgeous bright red holo from Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer's re-released Buffy the Vampire Slayer Collection - I Fought For My Soul. This is just delicious and juicy. I love the addition of the blue microglitters.

This polish practically applied itself in 1 coat. Yes, folks. This is ONE COAT. Hello! I also discovered via this mani that CND Creative Play Top Coat dulls holos. I'm kind of bummed because I really like that top coat but I can always use it for cremes. Consider this a note to myself, haha. And a note of caution to you all! Unfortunately this polish is no longer available but if you see it in a Facebook group - BUY IT! It's a SUPERB red holo.

Eden's Semilla Vitamin E Oil and Pure Jojoba Oil {Review}

As I learn more about the beauty industry, the environment and health, I have becoming increasingly concerned with eliminating as many harmful and unnecessary ingredients from my routines as possible. When Eden's Semilla reached out to us to try two of their oils, I welcomed the opportunity as these products are 100% pure and/or naturally sourced rather than the synthetic oils which are found more often than I'd like in many of the products I use on a regular basis.

The first product I tried was Eden's Semilla 100% Naturally sourced Vitamin E Oil with Rosehip and Jojoba Blend. I grew up with Vitamin E as a remedy for scars or burns but I always hated how sticky pure Vitamin E could be. The great thing about Eden's Semilla 100% Naturally sourced Vitamin E Oil is that it is blended with Rosehip & Jojoba Oil which gives the oil a really nice, non-sticky consistency. I would also agree with the claim that it is fast acting, absorbent and non-greasy. The same day I received this product, I actually burned my pinky finger on my panini press so I promptly applied some Eden's Semilla Vitamin E Oil and it definitely seemed to help with the initial irritation and healing process too. It's been about 3 weeks of using this product and there is minimal scarring on the area where I burned my finger. I also added a few drops of this oil to my foot bath to help soothe my feet and soften them... it definitely helped to moisturize my skin. The Eden's Semilla Vitamin E Oil is a win for me!

Secondly, I tried Eden's Semilla 100% Pure Organic Jojoba Oil. I wanted to try this product on my nails and hands too since Jojoba oil is common to almost all cuticle oils I use regularly. I have been using the Jojoba Oil for the past week at night to moisturize my hands and nails and I really love it! I find the Jojoba Oil to also be fast-absorbing and non-greasy which is important to me. This stuff is working really well on my nails and hands which tend to dry out a lot in the colder months. If you get really dry skin in the winter, definitely try either one of these oils from Eden's Semilla!

Eden's Semilla oils are advertised as being great for skin, hair and nails. The oils are 100% natural, pure and organic, using a cold-pressed manufacturing process. You can purchase Eden's Semilla on Amazon or directly from their online store.

Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer - BEGLove {Group Custom}

Now that it's December and November rain is a thing of the past... it's time for holos to shine along with the Christmas lights! I really love wearing dark holos on my short nails and BEGLove is one of my faves.

BEGLove is an indigo linear holo with purple shimmers and it was created for fans of Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer. Sadly, it is no longer available except in blog sales or destashes. Such a lovely formula, almost opaque in one coat but I went for two plus top coat.

Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer - Limited Edition 40/41

The other day I was having the hardest time choosing a nail polish so I asked Riley to pick a colour family so I could narrow down my options. She chose teal and I then chose Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer Limited Edition 40/41. 40/41 is a neon teal with cobalt Nfu Oh style flakes. I love how it looks like an otherworldly pond with those flakes! Two coats plus top coat and an excellent formula overall.

Girly Bits - Sky Theatre {Polish Con Chicago 2016 Exclusive}

Oh, I love this nail polish so much! I was lucky enough to get my hands on this Polish Con Chicago 2016 Exclusive because of a lovely nail friend. Sometimes people are the best (i.e. when they are not Donald Trump or any other fascist). Unfortunately this polish is no longer available so please don't be mad - I just had to share because it's stunning.

Here is a video of Pam mixing up the batch of Sky Theatre. I believe this types of videos are referred to in the nail polish community as "pourn."

This polish is so complex and unique! Sky Theatre appears to be a purpley navy blue jelly base loaded with tiny flakes giving a greeny/teal shimmer. Since it is a jelly, I needed 3 coats to get this look and I wouldn't skimp on the 3 coats as it adds to the complexity. I finished off with top coat as it dried a little dull but not too gritty.
