Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer - Limited Edition 40/41

The other day I was having the hardest time choosing a nail polish so I asked Riley to pick a colour family so I could narrow down my options. She chose teal and I then chose Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer Limited Edition 40/41. 40/41 is a neon teal with cobalt Nfu Oh style flakes. I love how it looks like an otherworldly pond with those flakes! Two coats plus top coat and an excellent formula overall.

Girly Bits - Sky Theatre {Polish Con Chicago 2016 Exclusive}

Oh, I love this nail polish so much! I was lucky enough to get my hands on this Polish Con Chicago 2016 Exclusive because of a lovely nail friend. Sometimes people are the best (i.e. when they are not Donald Trump or any other fascist). Unfortunately this polish is no longer available so please don't be mad - I just had to share because it's stunning.

Here is a video of Pam mixing up the batch of Sky Theatre. I believe this types of videos are referred to in the nail polish community as "pourn."

This polish is so complex and unique! Sky Theatre appears to be a purpley navy blue jelly base loaded with tiny flakes giving a greeny/teal shimmer. Since it is a jelly, I needed 3 coats to get this look and I wouldn't skimp on the 3 coats as it adds to the complexity. I finished off with top coat as it dried a little dull but not too gritty.

Emily de Molly - Future Royal

I used to hate flakies in nail polish. I thought they looked sloppy and messy and gross. But I am now a flakie convert. The more the merrier, especially if they are in a squishy jelly base like Emily de Molly Future Royal. This polish is described as a a bright, almost neon, purple jelly
with copper shimmer and iridescent, colour shifting flakes. YES, please!

I am wearing 2 coats plus top coat. I really love this polish and it's too bad my cuticles were a mess when I wore it. Nothing makes me smile more than a bright magenta polish! I also love how well the flakies stand out here.

Grace-full Nail Polish - Eternal Sunset

Something different for your eyes today! This is Grace-full Nail Polish Eternal Sunset which was a Hella Holo Customs exclusive polish from this past Summer (i.e. it's no longer available except second-hand). I honestly have nothing like this polish in my collection, past or present, which is always fun!

Grace-Full describes Eternal Sunset as a "purple jelly with multichrome flakies in copper, gold and fuchsia and pops of holo micro glitter in bright pink and copper." I really love how this polish changes depending on the lighting. At very extreme angles it has that "unicorn pee" effect which we all love (at least I do)!

Application was a bit patchy so I used 2 coats but it was a bit hard to get the finish I was looking for. In hindsight I would probably layer this over a jelly polish like OPI Houston We Have A Purple. It's still a really cool polish!

Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer - Siren's Midnight Glitz

Sometimes you want your nails to be blindingly blingy. If today is one of those days, then you need to get yourself a bottle of Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer Siren's Midnight Glitz. BLINGTASTIC.

This polish was released as a NYE's polish and it's perfect for the occasion. I am wearing 2 coats plus top coat. I am seeing a few bald spots in the pictures so I would suggest 3 coats to be safe or even layer over a similar base (maybe even a light pink).

Girly Bits - Dibs! {Polish Con Chicago 2016 LE}

If you haven't noticed, I've been on a bit of a Girly Bits kick as of late. I love that Girly Bits is Canadian and creates gorgeous polishes. I have also had a desire to wear more sophisticated colours lately... I'm not sure why but maybe it has something to do with my approaching birthday, subconsciously. Dibs! is definitely sophisticated for a holo.

From the Girly Bits website: "Dibs! is a mauve-y taupe holo with pink shimmer and a touch of holo copper microglitter. The name Dibs! was inspired by an apparent Chicago tradition in the winter months, where residents will shovel out a parking spot then place an item (often a lawn chair)  in the parking spot to reserve it for later. We felt Dibs! on polish might be on people's minds at Polish Con!"

I am wearing 2 coats without top coat for the pictures. It's so beautiful and elegant! Wouldn't you agree?

Girly Bits - 25 or 6 to 4 {Polish Con Chicago 2016 LE}

Girly Bits has been KILLING IT as of late. Honestly, Pam is a creative genius and can do no wrong. The polish you see here is 25 or 6 to 4 which was a Limited Edition from Polish Con in Chicago this past September. I was lucky enough to snag a bottle after the fact from the Girly Bits website.

25 or 6 to 4 is described by Pam as "a light sage green holo with a subtle green to pink shift, purple shimmer and copper flecks, named after the band Chicago and their hit 25 or 6 to 4 which is about working such long days that you don't even know what time it is anymore." I spent a while trying to think about what the name of this polish was referring to but I've never listened to the band Chicago and I've only visited the city once so now I know! This is SO unique and SO gorgeous! LOVE!

KBShimmer - Let's Slang {Polish Con Chicago 2016 Exlcusive}

Unicorn Pee... so elusive, so beautiful. You can learn more about it from Simply Nailogical if you're so inclined. Basically it's a super shimmery, complex pigment that is now discontinued but sometimes nail polish makers get their hands on it and make beautiful things like this polish from KBShimmer. Let's Slang was a exclusive to Polish Con Chicago 2016 and I was lucky enough to have a nail buddy bring me back a bottle from Chicago! There is no other way of getting this polish so you will probably have to stalk blog sales and Facebook resale groups to get yourself a bottle.

I am wearing 3 thin coats plus top coat. The brush on this was a little weird to work with but it got the job done. I also found that the formula was not the easiest to work with but, again, I got the job done. I love how rich and juicy this polish is! I was hoping that the Pee would be more visible in this polish on the nail but sadly it wasn't. It still looks gorgeous but it didn't blow my socks off. It takes a lot for a polish to do that these days. I've seen it all, folks!

Now this song is in my head: M.I.A. Pull Up the People

Supernatural Lacquer - The Devil Wears Spots

It's always fun/dangerous to try a new brand of nail polish. I took Supernatural Lacquer for a test drive recently and I really like it! I am wearing three coats of The Devil Wears Spots plus top coat. While the formula is sheer, it's really smooth and easy to apply. It also helps the glitters to show through the layers. PLUS THE SHIMMER. I love that pinky/red shimmer against the white AND there are even iridescent glitters mixed in there. It's really quite stunning and captures the inspiration so well.

I am super impressed with Supernatural Lacquer but I'm trying really hard to not buy so much nail polish so this will probably be it for me in terms of new brands. I can't make any promises but I've cut back BIG TIME on the amount of nail polish I've been buying. I have this really weird emotional relationship to buying nail polish and right now things in my life are kind of really hard but for some reason I'm not buying polish. Usually it's what I do when I'm stressed or sad but this time it feels different. Maybe because I know pretty liquids won't help me feel better - it will take something more. A lot more.

Chaos & Crocodiles Hella Holo Customs - Cheshire Rose, Narwhals Eat Macarons Too + Cosmic Crystal

I am sure I am not the only one who has been wondering what happened to Chaos & Crocodiles as it has been a really long time since we have seen anything new from the creative mind of Sarey. The last new polishes to come from Chaos & Crocodiles were the three Hella Holo Customs from July 2016: Narwhals Eat Macarons Too, Cosmic Crystal and Cheshire Rose.

Narwhals Eat Macarons Too is a muted, creamy light aqua holo. The holo in this is very subtle but it's a very pretty shade of aqua. Two coats plus top coat.

Cosmic Crystal is dark blurple linear holographic. This one was super rich in pigmentation but the holo was much stronger than Narwhals. Two coats plus top coat.

Saving the best for last, Cheshire Rose is a red-purple based blue to red multichrome holo. This was definitely my favorite of the trio because it was so bright and who doesn't love a shifty holo?! Two coats plus top coat.
