Girly Bits June 2017 CoTM

Girly Bits Let's Do It Again! and What the Hell Was I Thinking? June COTM

**EDITED: This duo will be available until the end of July 2017!**

Just before the stroke of midnight, I have the Girly Bits June 2017 CoTM. I purchased these myself at Indie Expo Canada but today (June 30) is the last day to buy the duo on the Girly Bits website (you have until 11:59 PM EST) so I am hustling to show the 5 of you that read my blog in case these are your speed.

Girly Bits What the Hell Was I Thinking? June COTM

To go along with the Indie Expo theme, the CoTM duo represent two extremes of sentiment that I imagine Pam went through leading up to and during IEC: What the Hell Was I Thinking? and Let's Do This Again!

Girly Bits What the Hell Was I Thinking? June COTM

The first of the pair that I'm showing is What the Hell Was I Thinking?: a predominantly berry leaning with a pink to gold shift and a generous helping of holo micro flakes.

Girly Bits Let's Do It Again! June COTM

Secondly is Let's Do This Again!: a very light chartreuse holo with a prominent pink shimmer.

Girly Bits What the Hell Was I Thinking? June COTM

What the Hell Was I Thinking? is breathtaking. The application is effortless and the colour payoff is stunning. I love berry shades like this but the shift really sets it apart from anything else I have ever seen. I am wearing two easy coats and I actually don't have top coat on in these photos. It's so smooth and shiny on its own.

Girly Bits Let's Do It Again! June COTM

Let's Do This Again! just makes me happy. It's so light, it's almost neutral but the pink shimmer, again, sets is apart. This is very complex and it changes quite dramatically in different lighting. I am wearing three thin coats and top coat in the photos. Another effortless application but it does require 3 coats in my opinion.

Girly Bits What the Hell Was I Thinking? June COTM

I really love how well is duo plays together especially with the theme and names. Every month, Girly Bits creates must have CoTM polishes. I honestly can't skip them anymore because I always end up with regret. It's real. So now I make sure I save my pennies and grab the duo. I'm still looking for Goblin It Up from the October 2016 CoTM duo... if anyone sees it for sale, TAG ME!

Girly Bits What the Hell Was I Thinking? June COTM

What the Hell Was I Thinking? is so vampy but it's the perfect summertime vamp shade because of the brightness and shimmer. I think you understand what I mean, right? It's like a hot tropical night on your nails. A tropical sunset with twinkling stars. This is like the pinnacle of polish making right here so you need this polish if you're only going to get one from the duo make it What the Hell Was I Thinking?

You can see both lacquers in the shade here and I love how glowy they both are. Let's Do This Again! takes on a metallic look but the shimmer still pops which is why it's so fantastic. And, in the shade, the flakies really stand out in What the Hell Was I Thinking?

Girly Bits Let's Do It Again! June COTM

I have included far too many pictures of these polishes but I really could NOT restrain myself. I took 5 times as many as I'm sharing on the blog. It was relatively easy to capture all the shifts and shimmers in this duo but I tend to overshare when I'm excited and this duo really does excite me.

Girly Bits What the Hell Was I Thinking? June COTM

There's a chance this duo will show up on Harlow & Co. but play it safe and order from Girly Bits before midnight EST! I assumed Harlow would get the October 2016 CoTMs and ended up missing Goblin It Up so don't make my mistake.

My nails are also getting too long (yes, roll your eyes) so they will be back to their usual cutie length soon but most times I am posting out of order and it's not a noticeable difference. It's just my own discomfort with long nails even though I used to have REALLY long nails (check the archives in early 2014). I don't know how I lived and also how they didn't break.

I will leave you with these stunning macros for your viewing pleasure. BUY THESE.

Different Dimension - Bean There, Done That

Different Dimension - Bean There, Done That

I've been blasting The 20/20 Experience (the first CD - the second one kind of sucks) from Justin Timberlake this past week and I just heard Spaceship Coupe. These nails are totally spaceship-like and I'm into that.

Different Dimension - Bean There, Done That

Different Dimension Bean There, Done That was a Limited Edition for the original Polish Con event in Chicago in September of 2016. It's a futuristic silver holographic with silver holographic micro-flakes with color-shifting shimmer. I am wearing 3 very thin coats plus top coat but it is very smooth on its own and relatively easy to remove as the microflakies are, well, micro. I recall a few bald spots at two coats but a third helped cover it all up and the massive amounts of flakies and holo hid any bald areas. The shimmer in this is very Spring-like to my eye even though it's a silver polish which might seem more Wintry. It's almost a pastel green/blue shift which is just beautiful.

Different Dimension - Bean There, Done That

It is inspired by Cloudgate in Millennium Park, aka "The Bean." I had the privilege of visiting Chicago in summer 2015 and I had a blast. I absolutely love Chicago - it's probably my favorite US city that I have visited to date. The architecture is out of this world and unlike any other city I have seen. Every building seems to have a story and fascinating history and I love that kind of stuff. And when I visited Cloudgate, you bet I took one of those photos in it. I can't find it now but it's one of those basic pictures haha.

Different Dimension - Bean There, Done That

What I love about this polish is how spacey and futuristic it looks on the nail. The shifts are very intense and visible in all lighting. The holo is blinding in the sun too so that's a bonus. Different Dimension makes some gorgeous polishes and this is one of my favorite to date. I've recently become a fan and her LE and special edition polishes are some of my favorite.

Clionadh Cosmetics Aftershock Pressed Pigments - Current

Clionadh Cosmetics Aftershock Pressed Pigments Current

And for something quite different from the usual swatches... a pressed pigment swatch from Clionadh Cosmetics! This shifty magical pressed pigment is called Current from the Aftershock - High Voltage Collection.

Clionadh Cosmetics Aftershock Pressed Pigments Current

The "Aftershock - High Voltage" Collection is back in stock so it's best to grab these high-impact, pressed pigments before they sell out. I saw the whole collection at Indie Expo Canada Toronto and they were awesome! Current is a bright turquoise with aqua tones. One of eight iridescent pressed pigments part of the "Aftershock - High Voltage" Collection. It can be used as an iridescent highlighter; it has an invisible base and a bright coloured reflect. It's definitely a unicorn highlighter and the reflect is INTENSE.

Clionadh Cosmetics Aftershock Pressed Pigments Current

I received an adorable itty bitty baby sample but they are sold in a 36mm pan and priced at $14.00 CAD which is a steal! It is 100% vegan and cruelty-free, 100% talc and paraben-free and can be used for face, eyes, lips and body.

Fiendish Fancies - The Wraith from the Cabin Fever Collection

Fiendish Fancies The Wraith

The Cabin in the Woods was one of the first horror movies I ever saw (I avoided horror films for most of my life). I don't watch a lot of movies but this is one of the best I have ever seen. I am sure most people have seen it by now but if you haven't (even if you're a bit of a scaredy cat like me... watch it!). The Wraith from Fiendish Fancies is inspired by one of the scary characters in The Cabin in the Woods...

Fiendish Fancies The WraithFiendish Fancies The Wraith

The Wraith is described as a creamy baby blue with indigo speckles. Spot on! This lovely crelly covers well in 2 coats and it's so super smooth without topcoat but, of course, top coat brings out the shine so is completely recommended.

In case you were wondering about the inspiration...

The Wraith, along with its other spooky friends from the Cabin Fever Collection, is available for purchase from Fiendish Fancies (made in Toronto!). Follow Fiendish Fancies on Facebook and Instagram for updates.

Cuter Cuticles Union Cuticle Oil

Cuter Cuticles Oil Union

I have been a Cuter Cuticles fan for years now. Their Barrier Butter is my addiction. I slather it on almost every night before bed and it works wonders. I received a sample of Cuter Cuticles Cuticle Oil in the scent "Union" at Indie Expo Canada Toronto 2017, which was one of the event exclusive scents along with "Kensington."

"Union" is said to smell "just like a sticky, sweet cinnamon bun" because that's what Union Station has always smelled like to Sammy since she was a little girl. What a sweet description and sentiment! I absolutely love Cuter Cuticles' Cuticle Oil and it works so well. The below photos shows my cuticles about 30 minutes after applying the cuticle oil and rubbing it in. I love the scent of this because it's not at all over-powering and not too sickly. It makes me hungry for a cinnamon bun.

You can purchase Cuter Cuticles here. Join the Cuter Cuticles' Cuties Facebook group for the latest updates. Any leftovers of "Union" and "Kensington" will be available on the IEC website in the future.

Clear Jelly Stamper from Beautometry {Review}

Clear Jelly Stamper Beautometry

I have gone on at length about my inability to stamp my nails. I've tried many times but I have never quite succeeded. At Indie Expo Canada 2017, the lovely people at Beautometry gave me a Clear Jelly Stamper to try stamping with. In the VIP bag, I received a stamping polish: Hit the Bottle On the Loose with Chartreuse (IEC LE) and Moyra Stamping Plate Sounds of Your World.

Moyra Stamping Plate Sounds of Your World

So, I gave it one more whirl but the results weren't as awesome or effortless as I had hoped. I'm not sure what the issue was but after speaking to some nail friends who also tried the Moyra plate and Hit the Bottle polish... the plate seems to be the culprit. The designs are very shallow and this might be why I had an almost impossible time picking up the image. I did sort of succeed at one point and here's the photographic evidence!

Clear Jelly Stamper Beautometry

The Clear Jelly Stamper is a really nice, easy to use stamper. Being able to see through does help with placement and the surface is large enough to work with any nail size.

Clear Jelly Stamper Beautometry

I tried again with another design (the music notes) but it didn't pick up the image completely. Because I'm not a pro, I'm not sure if the issue was me, the plate or the stamper (though I definitely know it was NOT the amazing Hit the Bottle polish). I am going to say it's me and the plate because many others have great success with this stamper. I'm not sure if I will try again or give up completely. Forever. I tried! Again!

You can purchase the Clear Jelly Stamper for $10.50 USD from Beautometry

Ever After Tonic Polish Austin Powers Duo - One Million Flowers and Minty Me

Ever After Tonic Polish Austin Powers Duo One Million Flowers and Minty Me

At Indie Expo Canada a few weeks ago, I was lucky enough to grab the brand new Ever After/Tonic Polish Austin Powers Duo. Each brand brought 10 duos and I got the last one from Ever After! This post is PICTURE HEAVY because of all the gorgeousness.

Tonic Polish One Million FlowersEver After Minty Me

This duo is inspired by Austin Powers and the labels (as you can see up above) are ADORABLE. The shimmer in these two polishes is what makes them such a perfect pairing. Unicorn nails, as someone pointed out!

Tonic Polish One Million FlowersEver After Minty Me

Both of these polishes are so incredibly unique in my collection. I love how beautifully executed they are as a duo with the use of shimmer.

Tonic Polish One Million FlowersEver After Minty Me

I am wearing 3 coats plus top coat or each of these. They both applied easily and smoothly but I think they are best at 3 coats each.

Tonic Polish One Million Flowers

Tonic Polish One Million Flowers is a white-based linear holo with silver microglitters and a strong pinky rose shimmer. The linear holo has a stronger flame than the Ever After.

Ever After Minty Me

Ever After Minty Me is a minty green linear holo with the same pinky rose shimmer.

Tonic Polish One Million Flowers Ever After Minty Me

I am really impressed by how white the Tonic Polish holo is. It's not perfectly white as that's nearly impossible and I'm not sure any brand has successfully achieved that but this is really impressive given the amount of shimmer and microglitter.

Tonic Polish One Million Flowers Ever After Minty Me

This duo is so delicate and yet the shimmer is so apparent. This duo will be releasing on the Tonic Polish website Sunday 8/13 at 2pm CDT.

Here is an extra picture of the Tonic Polish at an extreme angle to show the intensity of the shimmer. It almost has a blush rosé cast at extreme angles.

Tonic Polish One Million Flowers

These polishes are so photogenic and I was able to capture all the complexity of the duo so why not show it off? Do you think you'll be picking up this duo when it releases?
