Smokey Mountain Lacquers Pacific Dreaming June 2017 Polish Pickup

Another first on the blog today thanks to the Polish Pickup... Smokey Mountain Lacquers! Just as with the Ellagee I shared the other day, the Polish Pickup has been an amazing and innovative way for me to try new brands and the shipping is only $3 no matter how many polishes you buy (to Canada or the USA). Count me in!

Smokey Mountain Lacquers Pacific Dreaming

This pretty polish is Smokey Mountain Lacquers Pacific Dreaming is described as a light blue with a green leaning base, a gorgeous rose gold shimmer and scattered holo. I am wearing two coats plus top coat as it dries to a satin finish. This looks a bit more green in regular daylight than my pictures show, very close to YSL Green Peace but the shimmer appears more purple whereas the YSL is more pink. Also, this SML has added scattered holo which is very delicate and pretty.

Smokey Mountain Lacquers Pacific Dreaming

My thoughts on the formula: it's quite thin but covers well in two coats. The first coat was extremely patchy and I worried for a second but after applying another coat, all was well. It dries to a satin finish so top coat is a must as it brings out the shimmer and holo.

Smokey Mountain Lacquers Pacific Dreaming

This is a well-executed polish and I'm impressed with my first time trying SML. My only quip is that my vertical nail ridges really show through when wearing this polish but that might be due more to the base coat and top coat though my base coat was supposedly ridge filling. Bleh! I still love it!

The Body Deli Rose Geranium Calming Cleanser

I have been wanting to share some of my favorite, non-nail polish beauty items with you for a while now. Today I have one of my latest obsessions from The Body Deli which is a new-to-me brand that offers all natural skincare that is raw, live and pure. The Body Deli does not test on animals, almost products are vegan (these two masques are the only non-vegan items) and non-toxic. The Body Deli offers fresh, organic, raw superfood enhanced personal care products. I am obsessed with the Rose Geranium Cleanser and want to spread the love to the blogosphere. I have sensitive skin, combination and acne-prone skin to give some context but I love this product. It's been working really well for me and it smells heavenly.

The Body Deli Rose Geranium Calming Cleanser

The Body Deli Rose Geranium Calming Cleanser is for those with normal to sensitive skin types, formulated to be gentle and soothing for sensitive skin. It claims to reduce inflammation, sooth irritated skin, reduce redness from rosacea and remove make-up. I would say it definitely reduced inflammation and redness, though I do not have rosacea. It also give an amazing clean to the skin and leaves my face feeling fresh and hydrated. Did I already mention it smells amazing?

According to The Body Deli's website, "Rose Geranium is a very harmonizing and balancing essential oil. This is an excellent daily cleanser for sensitive skin that is easily irritated from environmental pollution, stress or hormonal changes. The calming benefits of ROSE GERANIUM, LICORICE EXTRACT, RICE BRAN, and ARNICA are profound. These unique botanicals are known for their balancing effect in helping to hydrate dry patches and also normalize oiliness in the T-Zone area. Superfoods such as VIRGIN COCONUT OIL and TOCOTRIENOLS enhance the function and nutritional value for this facial cleanser."

I highly recommend this cleanser to anyone looking for a gentle but effective cleanser. I don't use it to remove makeup personally so I cannot vouch for that efficacy but I love it as a cleanser after removing my eye makeup. I use it in the morning and it's a great way to start my day. I also feel great about the ingredients so it's a big win in my beauty book.

Ellagee I Shall Call Him Squishy June Polish Pickup

I've got more pink for your eyeballs! Well, it's more a magenta. It's also the first time I have shared an Ellagee polish on the blog. I am working my way through Polish Pickup polishes I have ordered. This is from the June 2017 Polish Pickup. I am a HUGE fan of the Polish Pickup and hope to share more swatches soon even though none of them are currently available. Sorry!

Ellagee I Shall Call Him Squishy Polish Pickup

This is Ellagee I Shall Call Him Squishy which is described as a hot pink crelly base with with pink iridescent flakes and blue shimmer. To my eyes it's more a magenta than a hot pink as it's got a little bit of purple in it in addition to the blue flash. Pictures show three coats plus top coat. This polish wore very well with barely any signs of wear after 4 days. Colour me impressed!

Ellagee I Shall Call Him Squishy Polish Pickup

This was my second time trying an Ellagee polish and I really love the unique finishes offered by the brand. This is a really bright polish, bordering on neon and the iridescence and shimmer make it very unique. I found the formula to be a little thicker than I am used to and ended up applying three coats to get a finish I was happy with. Again, it wasn't a challenging application by any stretch of the imagination but not as breezy as expected but I'm super picky, if you didn't already know! Application was breezy with the other Ellagee I have tried and have another waiting to be swatched. All the Ellagee polishes I have tried have been from the Polish Pickup (Squishy included). Like I said before, wear was excellent for the Ellagee.

Glisten & Glow Pink Rock Candy The Holo Hookup March 2016

You have seen a lot of Girly Bits on the blog lately so I thought I would switch it up with some Glisten & Glow. I realize I keep to a very select few brands in my nail polish collection and so I like to think of my blog as a finely curated selection of polishes from brands that I really trust. I so have some newish brands to share soon so look out for those over the next few weeks!

Glisten & Glow Pink Rock Candy The Holo Hookup March 2016

Glisten & Glow Pink Rock Candy was from The Holo Hookup box in March 2016. Over a year ago... which means this is no longer available but I bought it second hand so I am sure there are other bottles out there if you're looking. Glisten & Glow Pink Rock Candy is a bright pink linear holographic with cherry and silver holo microglitters and added pink shimmers. I am wearing two coats plus top coat. This dries quite smooth despite the microglitters but you definitely want to add top coat.

Glisten & Glow Pink Rock Candy The Holo Hookup March 2016

If you couldn't tell from the photos... this polish is HOT PINK HOLO PERFECTION. Wow! Is this ever sparkly and bright. Applying this nail polish brought a smile to my face because pink is my happy place. This also wore extremely well as all G&G holos have in my past experience. I had this on for 5 days with barely any wear which is a major win in my books.

Girly Bits Cosmetics CoTM July 2017 Mermaid of Honour and Sand of a Beach

I've got more Girly Bits to share with you today! This time it's the July CoTM polishes which, while no longer available directly from the Girly Bits Cosmetics website, will soon be available from Harlow & Co.! So if you fall in love with either or both of these and didn't grab them in July, you still have a chance.

Girly Bits Cosmetics CoTM July 2017 Mermaid of Honour and Sand of a Beach

Girly Bits Mermaid of Honour is a bright turquoise with an aqua glow and a heavy pink/purple shifting shimmer, scattered holo and holo micro glitter. I can't even express how perfectly mermaid-y this polish is. I am wearing 2 super easy, super smooth coats plus top coat. This polish is so smooth even with the microglitter but top coat really perfects the finish.

Girly Bits Cosmetics CoTM July 2017 Mermaid of Honour

Girly Bits Sand of a Beach is a champagne/light gold holo and glitter mix, in a semi sheer base. According to the description, opacity can be reached in three coats, or it makes a nice dense topper over jewel tones. I am wearing three thin coats plus top coat. I would suggest two thick layers of top coat because this is a glitter and will dry gritty. This is SO sparkly and so reminiscent of sand on a beautiful tropical beach. I will have to try this layered over another polish sometime and report back. I imagine it would be beautiful but it's really gorgeous on its own.

Girly Bits Cosmetics CoTM July 2017 Sand of a Beach

These two polishes might be the most beach-perfect lacquers to ever grace my nails. I'm honestly in awe of both of these shades but Mermaid of Honour is some kind of magic. It's the perfect nail polish for those who dream of being a mermaid or anyone who loves aqua. I couldn't stop staring at my nails while I wore this - it's breathtaking.

Girly Bits Cosmetics CoTM July 2017 Mermaid of Honour

Sand of a Beach is absolutely stunning too. It's got so much going on which makes it fun to look at. It reminds me of the white sand at Sandbanks Provincial Park in Prince Edward County, ON. I love how well it built up and how the shimmer comes through - it's pinky and golden. Just beautiful.

Onto the closeups... here's another look at Girly Bits Mermaid of Honor.

China Glaze Shades of Nude Collection from Nail Polish Canada

Every once in a while it's nice to wear something neutral on my nails. A palette cleanser as we call it in the nail world. Today, I have three neutral shades from the China Glaze Shades of Nude Collection to share with you today. I have always been a big fan of China Glaze - the formula, brush and the fact that the brand is cruelty free. Give Me S'more, Note to Selfie, and Pixilated are from the Shades of Nude Collection which is available now from Nail Polish Canada.

China Glaze Note to Selfie is a dusty rose nude crème. This is so, so, so adorable and quite possibly my favorite nude creme ever. I absolutely love how perfectly dusty this is yet still bright and modern. The formula on Note to Selfie was excellent, needing just two coats plus top coat. This self-leveled really well. I'm so impressed with this colour and it will be my new go-to pinky nude.

China Glaze Shades of Nude Note to Selfie

China Glaze Give Me S'more is a deep chocolate crème that's slightly smoky/dusty. I really love this particular shade of brown. It's so creamy and rich looking, much like milk chocolate. It's a super flattering shade of brown that would work well with many skin tones. I am wearing two easy coats plus top coat in the photos.

China Glaze Shades of Nude Give Me S'more

China Glaze Pixilated is a light beige crème. Just like the other two, I love this nude. China Glaze Pixilated is a really nice beige that isn't too putty-toned. I applied three thin coats plus top coat. This one took a little more patience but was still workable and on par with most China Glaze polishes in terms of formula. Did I mention that I really like the China Glaze formula and brush? Well, I do! I can see myself reaching for this in the fall. Another great nude!

If you like any of these China Glaze Shades of Nude polishes or any other from the collection, check our Nail Polish Canada. You can see the full selection of China Glaze at Nail Polish Canada here: http://www.nailpolishcanada.com/categories/china-glaze.html

Girly Bits August 2017 CoTM Depêche à la Mode and Let Me Azure You

I have a super fun treat for your eyes today... it's the August 2017 Colors of the Month from Girly Bits Cosmetics! Yet again, Pam has knocked it out of the park with these gorgeous nail polishes for the month of August. There's something for everyone here so step right up and take a look at this month's offerings.

First up is the absolutely stunning Girly Bits Depêche à la Mode which is described as a warm pale peachy base with gold shimmer, grey flecks, copper/red flecks, and a sprinkling of gold holo micro-glitter. I am wearing three thin coats plus top coat. Oh boy, did this ever apply smoothy and easily. I think I could have gotten away with two coats but I wanted that extra coverage for my photos. The formula is super fluid and easy to work with.

Secondly, we have Girly Bits Let Me Azure You which is described as a mid-toned blue holo with a lovely blue shimmer and a slight blue to purple-ish flash. Pam says that it's kind of hard to describe and looks different in various lighting and I would describe. It definitely looks darker and more purple in some lighting and lighter and more of a sky blue in others. I am wearing two super easy, fluid coats and no top coat in these photos. It dried very shiny and smooth but, of course, I would recommend QDTC if you're planning to wear it out and about. But, these pictures really show how shiny it is on its own!

Okay, so I am definitely partial to Girly Bits Depêche à la Mode because of the shimmer. Oh my goodness, that shimmer is just adorable. I was worried that this peach wouldn't work well with my skin tone but I was totally wrong: Depêche à la Mode is very flattering on my pale-but-slightly-tanned hands. And, on top of the shimmer there's a smattering of gold holo microglitter which stole my heart. I was able to capture it even so slightly below. When the light catches the shimmer and microglitter, I hear angels singing.

Now, it's time for me to gush about Let Me Azure you. This is such a gorgeous blue which I was also afraid about not loving but I was wrong, once again. It's such a lovely mid-toned shade of blue with a beautiful linear holo arc and blue to purple flash. It's delicate and perfect for Summer. It looks a lot like a clear August sky.

The  grey flecks, copper/red flecks are quite prominent in Depêche à la Mode when looking at it up close (like below) but from a distance, the polish is very neutral and delicate. Very work appropriate and very sweet.

The shimmer in Let Me Azure You also really pops when looking at it up close and personal. It's a lot more subtle because of the linear holo and flash but it's definitely there and it's definitely pretty.

I wanted to share the bottle shot of Depêche à la Mode and Let Me Azure You because it really shows all the best features on the polishes, shimmer, flash, flakes, you name it! As for ordering these beauties, if you order them both from the Girly Bits website before 11:59pm on August 10, 2017 you will get them at a discounted price of $31 CAD (which is $1 off each bottle). After that date, each polish will be available for $16.50 CAD (Let Me Azure You and Depêche à la Mode). They are both available until August 31, 2017 at 11:59pm on the Girly Bits website.

I was having way too much fun photographing Depêche à la Mode so I have included some bonus shots which really show off the shimmer and sparkle.

And then another photo with a peach because they're in season and it's officially the best time of the year. Yay for peaches!

Girly Bits Cosmetics They're After Me Lucky Charms March 2017 CoTM

I have been on a bit of a Girly Bits kick lately. You can probably tell. I just want to wear polishes that I trust and know will last well and look beautiful. Girly Bits polishes are all that and more. I have another Limited Edition shade from earlier in 2017.

Girly Bits Cosmetics They're After Me Lucky Charms March 2017 CoTM

Gilry Bits They're After Me Lucky Charms is desrcibed as a a vibrant green holo filled with gold shimmer and gold holographic microglitter. It's such a sunny and bright green. It's kind of like a Kelly green with tons of sparkle and gold shimmer which is very prominent.

Girly Bits Cosmetics They're After Me Lucky Charms March 2017 CoTM

I am wearing two easy coats plus top coat. This is so sparkly but it is quite smooth and applies really easily. As you can see, it's a very complex polish that screams St. Patrick's Day (which was the inspiration for this polish as it was released in March as one of the Colors of the Month). You can really see the gold shimmer in the photo below.

Girly Bits Cosmetics They're After Me Lucky Charms March 2017 CoTM

This is one of the rate instances in which I don't have BOTH CoTM for any given month. The partner to this polish is Irish You Were Beer but I have a fear that it will look terrible on me so I'm afraid to take a chance. But that doesn't mean I don't occasionally almost buy it from Harlow & Co. as it's still available from there. It's haunting me! Gah! This green, though. It's a green lover's dream!

Girly Bits April CoTM 2017 Robin Me Blind & All Bronze No Brains

So, April was a long time ago. Time has been a bit weird for me as of late. Certain events feel like forever ago and yet others feel like just yesterday. I still can't believe it's August. How?! At any rate, I got my hands on these beautiful Girly Bits Colors of the Month from April and finally had a chance to wear them and share them!

Girly Bits April CoTM 2017 Robin Me Blind & All Bronze No Brains

Every month, Girly Bits creates a duo of nail polishes and then allows devoted fans to name them. All of this fun stuff happens in the Girly Bits Polish Lovers group on Facebook so join us if you aren't already in there! If the name you suggest is chosen, you win a bottle! So, let's check out the duo from April and the witty names that won.

Girly Bits April CoTM 2017 All Bronze No Brains

Girly Bits All Bronze No Brains is a golden bronze holo with rose gold and pink shimmer. I am wearing two coats plus top coat and this applied easily, oh so easily. Very smooth and buttery. It's another one of those very neutral yet blingy polishes. I'm into it.

Girly Bits April CoTM 2017 Robin Me Blind

Girly Bits Robin Me Blind is a robin’s egg blue crelly with a soft pink to gold shimmer, tiny copper flakes and pink to green ultra chrome flakes. Okay so this is absolutely perfect with the itty bitty baby flakes. Yet another super smooth and easy application. I am wearing two coats plus top coat.

Girly Bits April CoTM 2017 All Bronze No Brains

All Bronze No Brains is such a sophisticated shade. Perfect for Summer now! I imagine it would be gorgeous on deeper skin tones because it looks amazing on my pale hands. It gives off some really lovely rainbows and the shimmer is very apparent.

Girly Bits April CoTM 2017 Robin Me Blind

The holo is a lot more subtle in Robin Me Blind (and intentionally so) which makes it super cute and delicate... like a robin's egg! I wasn't sure I would love this particular shade of blue on my hand but it ended up surprising me (in that I really loved it).

Girly Bits April CoTM 2017 All Bronze No Brains

Of course, I want you to check these out closely so here are some closeups for your enjoyment. The flakes really show in these photos and you know how much I love flakes!

Girly Bits April CoTM 2017 Robin Me Blind

Did you grab these when they were available for purchase? I think they were popular because they are no longer on the Harlow & Co. website. I have yet to try a Girly Bits CoTM duo that I haven't loved.
