Girly Bits X Femme Fatale Collaboration

Collaboration time! Girly Bits and Femme Fatale have teamed up to create a 4-piece set inspired by the whimsical and delicate. I have swatches of the Girly Bits half of the collaboration and I have a feeling you're going to love them. Some important things to note about this collaboration... The Girly Bits X Femme Fatale Collaboration will launch on both Girly Bits and Femme Fatale on Oct 1, 2017. These are limited edition and might not be restocked. There is a limited quantity available for the launch.

Girly Bits x Femme Fatale Collaboration

Girly Bits is very excited to reveal their brand collaboration collection with Femme Fatale. Inspired by the whimsical and delicate, this collaboration colours features soft hues, iridescence and tons of flakes! The timing of the launch also coincides with the beginning of Girly Bits' 7th year in business and Pam's birthday (HAPPY BIRTHDAY PAM!!)! What a fantastic way to celebrate so many awesome things!

Girly Bits Where the Sky Ends Femme Fatale

Girly Bits Where the Sky Ends is described as an ethereal lilac base with a violet to gold shimmer, holo flakes, pale green holo microglitter, and green to copper iridescent flakes.
$16.50 CAD on Girly Bits and $18.15 AUD on Femme Fatale.

Girly Bits Where the Sky Ends Femme Fatale

My notes on Girly Bits Where the Sky Ends: AMAZING FORMULA. Packed with flakies, holo and shimmer! Wow! I am wearing 3 thin coats plus top coat but it dries REALLY shiny and smooth. I think 2 coats would suffice but I knew my nails were under the spotlight so I went with a final 3rd coat that was just to perfect everything. Removal was pretty easy because all the particles are so fine. There's so much going on in this polish and yet it is tied together so perfectly. Very ethereal and very delicate and totally magical.

Girly Bits Where the Sky Ends Femme Fatale

These colours are limited edition and will be available on Oct 1, 2017 in the Girly Bits Shop, as well as from Femme Fatale during their pre-sale from Oct 1-5th. They may not be back for another pre-sale, so don’t wait to snap these beauties up.

Please note that being a collaboration, these units have a higher retail price than normal and we’ll be price matching between both the Femme and Girly Bits site. We are sending out a huge thank you from both Girly Bits and Femme Fatale for your support! The Femmes will come to you in an exclusive pink and blue ombre collaboration box embellished with both of our logos.
All polishes in this collection are 5 free, and cruelty free.

Girly Bits Aussie What You Did There Femme Fatale

Girly Bits Aussie What You Did There is described as a clear base filled with holographic pigment, holo flakes, aqua to turquoise shimmer, pink holographic microglitter, and pink, gold, blue, and green multichrome flakes.
$16.50 CAD on Girly Bits, and $18.15  AUD on Femme Fatale

Girly Bits Aussie What You Did There Femme Fatale

My notes on Girly Bits Aussie What You Did There: Hilarious name and freaking gorgeous nail polish. If I could described this, it's like the lovechild of Girly Bits Chyrsalis and Girly Bits Bean Me Up Scotty (which were both exclusives, so if you missed either then you should absolutely grab Aussie What You Did There). Like Where the Sky Ends, Aussie What You Did There is packed with flakies and shimmer and microglitter but applies so smoothly and dries really shiny. I used 3 coats plus top coat and removal was easy. The complexity of this polish, yet again, astounds me but it comes together so well - it really works with the ethereal and whimsical theme.

While I don't have swatches of the Femme Fatale portion of this collaboration, I have bottle shots and descriptions to share with you of the Femme Fatale offerings, Arctic Crystal and Violet Fire:

Girly Bits Femme Fatale Collaboration

Femme Fatale Arctic Crystal is a turquoise base with pink glow, red-green-gold shifting iridescent flakies and holo accents.
$18.25 CAD on Girly Bits, and $16.50 AUD on Femme Fatale.

Femme Fatale Violet Fire is a milky base with violet glow, red shifting chrome flakes, red iridescent glitters and holo glitters.
$18.25 CAD on Girly Bits and $16.50 AUD on Femme Fatale

All polishes are available individually, or save 10% by ordering the quad. $62.55 CAD on Girly Bits, or $61.60 AUD on Femme Fatale.

Essie Wild Nudes Collection 2017

I never thought I would fall so hard for a collection of neutral and totally work-appropriate polishes but this isn't your average neutral collection... it's totally wild. The Essie Wild Nudes Collection is a fantastic 8-piece set of neutral polishes perfect for the transition into Fall. To give a quick overview, every single polish in this collection has a flawless formula and the colours are absolutely gorgeous and on trend (as Essie polishes always are).

Essie Wild Nudes Summer 2017 Collection

The Essie website says, "partial to neutral shades with a distinctive point of view? look no further. the essie wild nudes collection is a modern take on a neutral palette for your nails, featuring rich crème colour shades with an edgy attitude."

I chose to wear the Wild Nudes in two ways, pairing up the colours from the collection.

Essie Wild Nudes Collection 2017

Index: Clothing Optional, a natural sienna brown
Middle: Wild Nude, a light mauve tan
Ring: Bare With Me, a greyish apricot
Pinkie: Exposed, a mossy green

Essie Wild Nudes Collection 2017

Index: Mooning, a light muted blue
Middle: Winning Streak, a greyish purple
Ring: Without A Stitch, a clean light grey
Pinkie: Skinny Dip, a sheer light peachy pink

There's something for every skin tone and preference in this collection. All polishes dried very shiny but all photos show the polish with top coat. My personal favorite is Clothing Optional - I'm seeing this colour everywhere and with good reason. It's absolutely perfect for Fall and extremely flattering on the nail. Wild Nude comes in close second because it's a beautiful mauve - very chic, very flattering.

A Visit to the Glossier Toronto Shop

Glossier! Oh the hype! And here in Toronto! Of course I had to go and check it out.

Glossier Toronto Shop

Yes, that was the lineup to get into the popup on a fine Sunday afternoon in September. The Glossier Popup was located at 1056 Queen St. West and was only open for a week. I probably chose one of the busiest and hottest days to visit but it was fun to see their offerings in person after seeing so much hype about Glossier online.

A post shared by Caitlin | Streets Ahead Style (@streetsaheadstyle) on

First of all, I have to give credit where credit is due... Glossier knows how to market and advertise and create really amazing looking products. I've only just started to try out the products I purchased (which you can see below) but they aren't anything exceptional even though they are good. The products aren't super clean or green but at least they are cruelty free. And some are even vegan (see list below from the Velvet Report):

Perfecting Skin Tint
Soothing Face Mist
Mega Greens Galaxy Pack
Milky Jelly Cleanser
The Supers
Generation G
Lip Gloss
Invisible Shield SPF 35

Glossier Toronto Shop

I had to try the Glossier Birthday Balm Dotcom which has the prettiest and subtlest silver glitter. It smells heavenly and the packing is holographic so it was made for me. The packing really got me... I mean, look at that bag!

Glossier Toronto Shop

My haul is below and thankfully there was a discount offered at the popup shop. I got the Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser, a trio of Balm Dotcoms (Cherry, Birthday and Mint), and the Mask Duo (Mega Greens Galaxy Pack and Moisturizing Moon Mask).

Glossier Toronto Haul Shop

Glossier ships to Canada for free when you purchase two or more items. While there were rumors swirling about a Glossier Toronto shop (a permanent one), they are just rumors for now. Though, let's be real... it's happening. And sooner rather than later, I am sure.

My Indie Polish Fall 2017 Trio Swatches and Review Where the Wild Things Are

I have an amazing trio of polishes from My Indie Polish just in time for Fall. It's been unseasonably hot here in Toronto with temperatures reaching close to 40 C (which is almost 100 F for my American friends). This Fall Trio from My Indie Polish is inspired by Where the Wild Things Are, which is a storybook that Tanya has always loved. She's always wanted to create a collection inspired by Where the Wild Things Are and now, from her new studio, she's created these beautiful polishes. There's something for everyone here, I just know it!

This trio is on sale now for $40 CAD and ships for free.

My Indie Polish Slappy Polish Pickup October 2017

It's no secret that I love Halloween and all things spooky. I am BEYOND excited to share a My Indie Polish inspired by a popular (and uber creepy) villain... Slappy the Dummy! If you're feeling a little nostalgia from childhood, it's okay I am feeling it too. I used to read the Goosebumps books at school all the time and might have even read the one about Slappy. This polish is extra special because it was made by the owner of My Indie Polish's son who loves Goosebumps. I'm obsessed with this shade and will wear it a lot in the coming months.

My Indie Polish Slappy Polish Pickup October 2017

My Indie Polish Slappy was "pretty much conceived and created" by Tanya's son and then Tanya mixed everything up. Tanya's son is obsessed with Goosebumps and chose the villain Slappy the Dummy as his muse. Tanya says "I just mixed the base with his glitter and pigment choices." Tanya describes Slappy as "a black base with red shimmer, lots of glitters and a holographic punch. Other than mixing, pouring and bottling this polish was conceived and thought up by my son who is a goosebumps nut.  Slappy is a menacing dummy and rest assured when he is around trouble will soon follow. Opaque in 2 coats."

My Indie Polish Slappy Polish Pickup October 2017

I am wearing 2 coats plus top coat. This polish applied very smoothly and evenly and the second coat helped to perfect everything. The shimmer is so apparent on the nail as are the little itty bitty red microglitters and there are also some larger glitters that help to tie the polish together though they dry quite smoothly and aren't that obvious. I think Tanya's son has a bright future in making nail polish - this is really an amazing creation!

Slappy is the inspiration for this My Indie Polish and it's so spot on. I remember Slappy from when I was a kid and I was always so so so scared of him. "Slappy the Dummy is a recurring villain in the Goosebumps franchise. He is a living ventriloquist dummy that comes to life when the words "Karru Marri Odonna Loma Molonu Karrano" are read aloud; the words mean "You and I are one now", and they can be found on a sheet of paper in Slappy's jacket pocket. After coming to life, Slappy will try to make the person who brought him back to life serve him as a slave." (Source Goosebumps Wiki)

Envy Lacquer Rainbow Acan Polish Pickup June 2017 Nail Polish Review

I wanted to take a quick moment to thank all my internet (and real world) friends for expressing their concern and love regarding my heart post. I am feeling better this week mentally and will do what I need to do in order to stay here - I've got too many polishes to swatch to die anytime soon (there's my dark sense of humor)! Today I am sharing a polish that is no longer available but too beautiful to not share and it's a new-to-me brand: Envy Lacquer.

Envy Lacquer Rainbow Acan Polish Pickup

Envy Lacquer Rainbow Acan is "a purple leaning blurple base with multi-chrome flakies and linear holo." There's so much going on in this polish and it looks totally awesome on the nail. This was exclusive to the Polish Pickup in June for the Under the Sea theme so it's no longer available except maybe second hand... if you're lucky.

Envy Lacquer Rainbow Acan Polish Pickup

Some notes on my experience with Envy Lacquer Rainbow Acan: I wasn't in love about the formula. I used three coats plus top coat. The finish was smooth but tended to get patchy in parts during application which is why I went with three coats. However, three coats was really thick on the nail. It wasn't gritty and it dried very shiny but I wish the application had been a bit easier. I think I would try it again with thinner and see how that goes.

Envy Lacquer Rainbow Acan Polish Pickup

But, all issues aside (and they were pretty minimal), this polish ROCKS! Look at that gorgeous combination of glitter and flakies and shimmer! I couldn't capture the shifty iridescent glitters on the nail but they're in the bottle as you can see above. This polish is very unique and I would put up with the application troubles just because this is so pretty.

Girly Bits Polish Con Chicago 2017 Limited Editions and Exclusive Nail Polishes Swatches and Reviews

Can you believe it's already time for another Polish Con?! Time seems to fly and with the flying time comes some GORGEOUS polishes made just for Polish Con Chicago 2017 from none other than Girly BitsThe three polishes in this post will be available at Polish Con Chicago for $13 USD each, tax included. Chicago Fair-ever? and What the EL? will be available to purchase for a limited time on the Girly Bits website for $16.50 CAD and also available to stockists. I have a ton of photos of three very special, extra beautiful polishes so let's get into it.

Bean Me Up Scotty is a mixture of several types of holo pigment, teal to purple to fuchsia multichrome flakes, and a hint of teal shimmer. It was inspired by the Cloud Gate Sculpture, also known as the "bean.” Girly Bits Bean Me Up Scotty is the event exclusive and will only be available in person at the event. There is no limit on the number each person can purchase. If Girly Bits sells out at the event, they will take orders at the event and ship them when they return to GB HQ.

I am wearing 3 thin coats plus a thick coat of top coat in these photos. Girly Bits Bean Me Up Scotty applies very smoothly and easily considering it's so jam packed with glitters and flakies. It's a very fluid formula and I show it below as a topper though it can easily build up to opacity on its own. Removal takes a bit more effort than your average creme but it's not bad at all for a glitter/flakie like this!

I wanted to show Girly Bits Bean Me Up Scotty layered as a topper over various base colours. I actually really love this as a topper too! So versatile.

Girly Bits Bean Me Up Scotty Polish Con Chicago Exclusive 2017

Girly Bits What the EL? is a green/bronze/blue multichrome, with amazing holo flakes. What the EL? is one of two event limited editions. There is no limit on the number each person can purchase. If we sell out, I will take orders at the event and ship them when we return home. What the EL? is a play on the nick name for the elevated public railway system in Chicago, as well as a reversal of the short form for Limited Edition. (So clever!)

In my photos I am wearing two easy, fluid coats. Girly Bits What the EL? practically applies itself. I was shocked (even though I shouldn't be because Girly Bits polishes always blow me away) by how easily this went on the nail. It's an incredible formula and absolutely breathtaking. The little flakies dry very flat and it's incredibly smooth even without top coat though I am wearing top coat. Removal is very easy.

Girly Bits Chicago Fair-ever? is a multichrome that reflects purple, blue, fuchsia, and gold, and is filled with gold holo microglitters. This is one of two event limited editions. There is no limit on the number each person can purchase. If we sell out, I will take orders at the event and ship them when we return home.

I am wearing three coats plus top coat in my photos. This builds up really nicely in two coats but I used a third to get some extra depth but the formula is very easy and dries quickly between coats. I did need a thick layer of top coat to smooth out the microglitters but it does dry quite smooth. Removal is pretty easy - just a little bit of effort is needed to get the microglitters off. And this baby is a chameleon! Wow!

Girly Bits will also have a very limited quantity of Pier-less Beauty (the road to polish con LE) and V.I.Polish Chicago 2017 (V.I.P bag polish) available at the Girly Bits table at polish con. Due to the extremely limited number of bottles available, the Girly Bits team will put half of the stock out on the table at VIP entrance, then the remaining stock out at general admission time.

Launch of the two Limited Editions on the Girly Bits website will be Sept 24, 2017.

My Indie Polish Be A Flamingo Nail Polish Review

I have the final instalment in my picks from the My Indie Polish The Pinks Collection. I would say that I am a big My Indie Polish fan now after trying even more of her gorgeous polishes. I had tried a few and here from boxes but The Pinks Collection is a must for anyone who loves pink like I do. Last but not least is My Indie Polish Be A Flamingo.

My Indie Polish Balloon Animals and Buskers Nail Polish Swatches

There's something so whimsical about a crelly polish. I don't wear them often as I have started to shy away from glitters but when a crelly strikes the perfect balance between base and glitter, there's nothing better (and Riley would agree!). My Indie Polish Balloon Animals and Buskers is one of those polishes that strikes the perfect crelly balance.

My Indie Polish Balloon Animals and Buskers Nail Polish

My Indie Polish Balloon Animals and Buskers is described by My Indie Polish as "a beautiful soft pink with holo fuchsia glitters."

Tanya also has the following to say about Balloon Animals and Buskers: "this polish and honestly this entire line is inspired but one of the cutest, most talented clowns I know. If you have never heard of Empress Cherry Sunday YOU MUST CHECK HER OUT. She's traveled the world in her pursuit to bring smiles. Although not a big polish wearer she supports the handmade world overall. She
inspired me to make 5 new pinks... so you guys should all love her! This is inspired
by a picture of balloon animals she sent me."

My Indie Polish Balloon Animals and Buskers Nail Polish

I absolutely love that this polish is inspired by a clown and balloon animals! It really evokes that feeling of fun at a carnival. I love the base of this polish - it's the perfect whitened pink that really pops, especially with a tan. The formula was really great too. I am wearing 2 coats plus top coat. The base doesn't dry down too much from the glitter so it's relatively smooth without being top coat hungry. Yay! I also love how the glitters catch the light and sparkle. I didn't have to do much fishing to get an even spread of glitters which is another win!
