Girly Bits Polish Con Chicago 2017 Limited Editions and Exclusive Nail Polishes Swatches and Reviews

Can you believe it's already time for another Polish Con?! Time seems to fly and with the flying time comes some GORGEOUS polishes made just for Polish Con Chicago 2017 from none other than Girly BitsThe three polishes in this post will be available at Polish Con Chicago for $13 USD each, tax included. Chicago Fair-ever? and What the EL? will be available to purchase for a limited time on the Girly Bits website for $16.50 CAD and also available to stockists. I have a ton of photos of three very special, extra beautiful polishes so let's get into it.

Bean Me Up Scotty is a mixture of several types of holo pigment, teal to purple to fuchsia multichrome flakes, and a hint of teal shimmer. It was inspired by the Cloud Gate Sculpture, also known as the "bean.” Girly Bits Bean Me Up Scotty is the event exclusive and will only be available in person at the event. There is no limit on the number each person can purchase. If Girly Bits sells out at the event, they will take orders at the event and ship them when they return to GB HQ.

I am wearing 3 thin coats plus a thick coat of top coat in these photos. Girly Bits Bean Me Up Scotty applies very smoothly and easily considering it's so jam packed with glitters and flakies. It's a very fluid formula and I show it below as a topper though it can easily build up to opacity on its own. Removal takes a bit more effort than your average creme but it's not bad at all for a glitter/flakie like this!

I wanted to show Girly Bits Bean Me Up Scotty layered as a topper over various base colours. I actually really love this as a topper too! So versatile.

Girly Bits What the EL? is a green/bronze/blue multichrome, with amazing holo flakes. What the EL? is one of two event limited editions. There is no limit on the number each person can purchase. If we sell out, I will take orders at the event and ship them when we return home. What the EL? is a play on the nick name for the elevated public railway system in Chicago, as well as a reversal of the short form for Limited Edition. (So clever!)

In my photos I am wearing two easy, fluid coats. Girly Bits What the EL? practically applies itself. I was shocked (even though I shouldn't be because Girly Bits polishes always blow me away) by how easily this went on the nail. It's an incredible formula and absolutely breathtaking. The little flakies dry very flat and it's incredibly smooth even without top coat though I am wearing top coat. Removal is very easy.

Girly Bits Chicago Fair-ever? is a multichrome that reflects purple, blue, fuchsia, and gold, and is filled with gold holo microglitters. This is one of two event limited editions. There is no limit on the number each person can purchase. If we sell out, I will take orders at the event and ship them when we return home.

I am wearing three coats plus top coat in my photos. This builds up really nicely in two coats but I used a third to get some extra depth but the formula is very easy and dries quickly between coats. I did need a thick layer of top coat to smooth out the microglitters but it does dry quite smooth. Removal is pretty easy - just a little bit of effort is needed to get the microglitters off. And this baby is a chameleon! Wow!

My Indie Polish Be A Flamingo Nail Polish Review

I have the final instalment in my picks from the My Indie Polish The Pinks Collection. I would say that I am a big My Indie Polish fan now after trying even more of her gorgeous polishes. I had tried a few and here from boxes but The Pinks Collection is a must for anyone who loves pink like I do. Last but not least is My Indie Polish Be A Flamingo.

My Indie Polish Balloon Animals and Buskers Nail Polish Swatches

There's something so whimsical about a crelly polish. I don't wear them often as I have started to shy away from glitters but when a crelly strikes the perfect balance between base and glitter, there's nothing better (and Riley would agree!). My Indie Polish Balloon Animals and Buskers is one of those polishes that strikes the perfect crelly balance.

My Indie Polish Balloon Animals and Buskers Nail Polish

My Indie Polish Balloon Animals and Buskers is described by My Indie Polish as "a beautiful soft pink with holo fuchsia glitters."

Tanya also has the following to say about Balloon Animals and Buskers: "this polish and honestly this entire line is inspired but one of the cutest, most talented clowns I know. If you have never heard of Empress Cherry Sunday YOU MUST CHECK HER OUT. She's traveled the world in her pursuit to bring smiles. Although not a big polish wearer she supports the handmade world overall. She
inspired me to make 5 new pinks... so you guys should all love her! This is inspired
by a picture of balloon animals she sent me."

My Indie Polish Balloon Animals and Buskers Nail Polish

I absolutely love that this polish is inspired by a clown and balloon animals! It really evokes that feeling of fun at a carnival. I love the base of this polish - it's the perfect whitened pink that really pops, especially with a tan. The formula was really great too. I am wearing 2 coats plus top coat. The base doesn't dry down too much from the glitter so it's relatively smooth without being top coat hungry. Yay! I also love how the glitters catch the light and sparkle. I didn't have to do much fishing to get an even spread of glitters which is another win!

My heart.

Do you ever have a moment where you feel like you're finally realizing your authentic self? I'm writing this as I try to find really good new music to listen to. I used to spend hours upon hours every week in high school doing the very same thing, albeit by very different means (Spotify didn't exist back then but Yahoo Music did - anyone remember that?!). I'm not suggesting that your authentic self is some old version of who you were but for me, some things have always been true of my "self." I would never want to go back to being who I was in high school though I think that person was genuinely good, I have grown so much over the past 14+ years (holy crap, high school was 14 years ago). I guess it really hit me this morning because I was told yesterday that the results of my cardiology tests "worried" my incredibly smart and compassionate cardiologist. She also mentioned the word mortality in relation to my life more times than I care to remember. After being diagnosed with ARVC in June of 2016 and then watching my Nannie die from ARVC in August 2016, I am not sure I fully felt the seriousness of that diagnosis. Or maybe I have been in denial. I think I am still in denial because I still woke up also thinking "it can't be that bad, my mortality can't be that much of a possibility." But then I remember how yesterday my cardiologist also said that I don't really have ARVC, but ARVC Type 5 but it's much worse than that and just some sort of genetic arrhythmia that could kill me at 2am after waking up from a nightmare that accelerated my heart rate just a little too much and threw me into ventricular tachycardia. But will that really happen? Could it really happen? I guess it really does sound like I'm in denial. Oops.

Maybe this is one of those times when I need to take things one day at a time but it feels more like one second at a time. The anxiety I feel this morning is already elevating my heart rate which is the last thing I want. I also don't want to have an ICD implanted into my heart soon (my expectations were set for after age 30 but I'm still just 27) but I feel like it's the unspoken thing everyone wants for me sooner rather than later (i.e. before I unexpectedly go into v-tach and die in my sleep or during a brisk walk or after doing some low impact squats or during a panic attack thinking about whether or not this is really a big deal). I don't know why I'm resisting something that will help save or prolong my life. It's a surgery and I've never had surgery. It's a foreign object that will live inside my body that might malfunction or go off at the wrong time leaving me with PTSD (as it has my for my Mom) or I might get an infection that won't heal or it will look ugly and people will stare or treat me with pity. Or all of those things might happen but at least I will be alive. But I've also struggled with depression and suicidal ideation for most of my life and I've never been able to picture a future with me in it. Maybe this is why. So, maybe I need to stop being a selfish brat and get the damn ICD implanted before something does happen and the people I love have to live without me. I know I couldn't live without Riley (my sister and absolute best friend in the whole entire world) and she is facing the exact same reality as of yesterday though we haven't really talked so I don't know how she's dealing with this all and what exact thoughts she's having.

I guess I should eat something (though my stomach is already in knots) and decide if I can get away with dry shampoo so I don't have to get the CardioSTAT that's taped to my chest for the next 14 days to monitor my heart activity too wet. Dry shampoo it is and maybe a smoothie?

My Indie Polish Not Your Everage Dame Nail Polish Review

While still part of The Pinks Collection from My Indie Polish, this polish is a little different and more purple-toned. It's also inspired by Dame Edna which is all kinds of awesome.

My Indie Polish Not Your Everage Dame Nail Polish

My Indie Polish Not Your Everage Dame is a described as a "great pink with purple microglitter, pink holo microglitter, a blue shimmer and some holo." I really like how soft and delicate this polish is but still punchy with those glitters which appear blue to me. I would say this is a near lilac but more pink than a lilac.

My Indie Polish Not Your Everage Dame Nail Polish

I am wearing three thin coats plus top coat but as I have said before about the My Indie Polish formula, it's lovely and fluid and super glossy. I really am smitten with it because it works so well for me. I also love how this polish looks on my hand and with a tan... wow! The shimmer is just beautiful and if you like light purples or lilacs, try this baby out. You won't be disappointed.

My Indie Polish Pink Lambo Nail Polish Review

Let the pink games continue! Today I have yet another gorgeous pink from My Indie Polish to share with you. This one might be even more Barbie-r than the last polish. Who doesn't want to sport Barbie nails? I know I have always loved that classic shade of Barbie pink circa 1995.

My Indie Polish Big Girl Panties Nail Polish Swatches

Prepare yourselves because the next handful or more of polishes I have to share are all pink! They are all part of The Pinks Collection from My Indie Polish from this past June. I love me some pinks and hopefully you do too ;) I get a chuckle from the name of this polish: Big Girl Panties. But, it's good for a lot more than a chuckle, this is a beautifully done pink nail polish.

My Indie Polish GJ 504B (The Pink Planet) Polish Pickup May 2017 Nail Polish Review

For the past year almost I have been shying away from larger glitters in the nail polishes I choose to wear. As you might recall, I was a HUGE glitter fan a few years back but sadly that life is no longer for me. However, if an indie maker can incorporate glitter in a really subtle, elegant way then I'm all in! Such is the case with My Indie Polish GJ 504B (The Pink Planet). This was (sadly) an exclusive to the Polish Pickup from May 2017 (the Science themed Pickup).

Lemming Lacquer The Magician's Fire The Crelly Crate Revamped Nail Polish Review

My love for blue nail polish isn't much of a secret. I should say true blue and medium blue, specifically. I've been in a bit of a fight with baby blues lately as they aren't agreeing with my skin tone but today's polish is a true winner. A few months ago, the Polish ReVamped group and the Crazy 4 Crellies group teamed up to release The Crelly Crate ReVamped and Lemming Lacquer The Magician's Fire was one of the polishes included in this Smoke & Mirrors themed box.

Lemming Lacquer The Magician Swatch

Lemming Lacquer The Magician's Fire is a breathtaking medium blue jelly base loaded with orange holo microglitter, gold, orange and bronze flakies. This combination is unbelievably beautiful. I can't even describe how much I love this polish but I looooove it. I am wearing 3 thin coats because it's a crelly and you want all those layers to give the squishy jelly appearance. It dries relatively shiny but I applied top coat and removal was pretty easy considering the amount of flakies. Application was very easy and it was fun to watch the layers build.

Lemming Lacquer The Magician Swatch

Not only is the base one of my all-time favorite shades of blue but the flakies are just to die for. The jewel toned shades are so elegant and this polish is really vampy. My pictures make it look a little brighter than it is in person.

Lemming Lacquer The Magician Swatch

This polish reminds of an aquarium in the best possible way. The flakies are suspended so beautifully in the ultramarine blue jelly base. It makes me happy and I am so impressed with my first Lemming Lacquer experience. I love the shape of the bottle - it's adorable and very comfortable to hold.
