Colors by Llarowe - Courage, Brains, Heart

Courage, Brains, Heart from Colors by Llarowe is one of those polishes that has gained legendary status in the nail polish world. It was released in 2014 as part of A Box, Indied but, as it turns out, you can now order it on its own! This used to sell for $50+ USD in nail groups on Facebook.

The formula is buttery smooth - totally awesome. It's super pretty and holographic to boot. But, for some reason I didn't love it like I thought I would. This is why nail swaps are awesome... this past week I got a box of nail polishes from Natalie (you can check her out wearing my nail polishes on Instagram with #natcatswap) and she got a box from me. CBH was on my lemming list and Natalie had it in her stash so now I've tried it. I'm glad I did even though I don't love it. The formula is sooo nice, I have to say! Looking at the pictures, it does look gorgeous on my nails but nowadays I want more than just a linear holo; I need shimmer, microglitter, flakies, something else to wow me.

KBShimmer - Office Space Collection {well, part of it}

I recently won 4 of the 8 polishes in the KBShimmer Office Space Collection from a nail NailItLovely. I thought I'd swatch the 4 she sent me even though these polishes are far more conservative than the usual colours you see on our blog.

Cubicle Pusher is a really nice muted eggplant holo. The holo isn't too intense but it looks really pretty. The formula on Cubicle Pusher was definitely the best out of the 4 I tried. No top coat.

Makin' Copies is an almost white holo. It's pretty much the closest you'll get to a white holo since I think that's an impossible feat. The formula was kind of streaky at 3 coats plus top coat. That bummed me out a little bit.

Next is A Hint of Manilla which is a jelly nude base with holo microglitter. It's alright... I'm not sure if my application was off but it took 2 coats and the polish was pretty thick.

Lastly, because I really did not like this one, is Supplies Party. This is a weird polish in application and appearance. I really didn't like it but I know many others do so maybe I'm a weirdo!

Overall, of all the polishes I tried from this collection, I liked Cubicle Pusher best because the formula was GORGEOUS and it looks nice. I really want to like Makin Copies but it's just a bit too streaky for my liking. I will try it again and see if I have better luck!

Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer - Hypothermia

I can't believe it took me almost 2 years to wear this nail polish. I was waiting and waiting to wear Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer Hypothermia for ages and I finally put it on the other day.

It's a really gorgeous and unique holo with shimmer. Rachel at Royal Milk Tea described it as "nearly-grey dusty lavender holographic with hints of lavender-blue shimmer and subtle golden-pink shimmer." Yes. That. All of that. As I wore it, I actually liked Hypothermia best in the shade because then you could see the shimmers. They were hard to capture but I think I caught the shimmer with flash below and in the macro.

This is 2 coats plus top coat. It held up really well for a week except for some serious tip wear which might be from my new top coat (HK Girl). I will have to do more more testing to determine the culprit!

Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer - Thrill Me to the Marrow

I have a "palate cleanser" polish for your eyes today. Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer Thrill Me to the Marrow is a really pretty "lavender-leaning taupe creme" that applies nicely in 2 coats with top coat. I think I like it on my hands. It didn't give me weird lobster hands which makes me happy.

Thrill Me to the Marrow is part of the Dad's Mixtape Collection Side A from the summer. I wanted to swatch the whole collection but didn't get around to it. I believe it's also still available for sale if it tickles your fancy ;)

Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer - Void Stuff

I love when indie nail polish makers work to please their customers. Julie of Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer goes above and beyond for her customers and loyal fans. Recently she started re-releasing older polishes that had previously sold out. Void Stuff is one such polish. I grabbed this in November and I really love it!

Void Stuff is "a deep teal/green linear holographic with blue to red shifting glass flecks." Totally gorgeous. AMAZING FORMULA. This is ONE coat, no top coat! Get it now while you still can (for the second time).

Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer - Terrific Twos

This pretty blue microglitter is called Wishes of a Blue-Eyed Girl Turns TWO! It was an LE polish from a few years ago and I only recently got my hands on it. There's something about this shade of blue that makes me really happy.

I decided to layer this over Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer Void Stuff because... well, I'm not sure why. I think I would have preferred it on its own but I felt the need to wear undies. It can definitely get opaque on its own in two coats. While it is a microglitter it dries relatively smooth but I am wearing a thick coat of HK Girl Top Coat which is a new FAVE! Yay!

Here is a macro so you can see all the glittery goodness. There are a lot of colours in there!

Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer - Siren's Fever Dream

I feel like this polish is a good bridge between Christmas and Valentine's Day. I didn't get in enough Christmas manis for my liking so maybe this is a consolation prize. Or maybe I'm just very eager to celebrate Valentine's Day (NOT)... or Galentine's Day which is 100x more awesome!

Siren's Fever Dream is a special little polish from Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer, an encore to the Siren Series and an apology for a shipping delay in November. It's also a gorgeous burnt cherry red with a million different things mixed in - shimmers, flakies, glitters, you name it. You can see what I mean in the macros below.

I am wearing 2 coats plus top coat. The formula was a little sticky as it's a jelly base but if you ensure you put enough on your brush then it applies really, really well. I like the formula a lot! A full-size version of this will be available for sale in February I believe so if you like it then grab yourself a bottle!

Girly Bits - What Happens in Vegas Ends Up on Facebook (2014 Version)

A few weeks ago I was craving a more sophisticated polish for my nails so I grabbed Girly Bits What Happens in Vegas Ends Up on Facebook which, I realize, for some, might be FAR from sophisticated. However, I find the mauve-y base to be rather classy even with the holo and iridescent glitters. This is the second release of WHIVEUOF so it's slightly different then the original release in 2013 but gorgeous nonetheless.

I am wearing 2 coats plus top coat. This needs a top coat as it dries ever so slightly textured. I love a smooth glassy finish on my nails so top coat is pretty much always a MUST. Yet another AMAZING Girly Bits polish. It's no longer available as it was Limited Edition but you can often find it second hand, like I did :)
