NailStuff Nail Flakes Review

Provided for review

I'm slowly working to conquer my fear of nail art. It's so funny because when I started this blog I was all about nail art. When I received a whole bunch of wonderful nail art tools from NailStuff.ca (check out my review of the tools here), I knew it was time to get back on that horse and try again. Nail flakes are a great stepping stone on the path to nail art greatness. They are a fast way to add a little something extra to your nails without a ton of effort or creativity required. Check out my first impressions of the NailStuff Nail Flakes below.

I tried out the NailStuff Blue Metallic Foil Flakes to share my thoughts with you. I started out by applying a liquid latex barrier and then my chosen base colour (Girly Bits Forget Me? NOT!). Then, working quickly while my base colour was still a bit wet, dipped my sponge applicator into the flakes and starting rubbing the flakes into the base colour. I kept working until I covered my nail and then applied a quick dry glossy top coat (and then a second coat to smooth it out completely). I removed my latex barrier and went on my merry way. Application was easy but I recommend not applying these flakes anywhere near a fan or open window with a breeze. They are so light and will get everywhere.

You can create different designs by applying a little or a lot of flakes. I went with a lot to cover my nail but a little does go a long way. The foil is very reflective and I really like the way this look turned out. You can check out my application video on Instagram @streetsaheadstyle.

NailStuff.ca offers a variety of flakes in various finishes on their website. I can't wait to try the Fiesta iridescent flakes over a white polish in the near future. Have you ever tried nail flakes? Do you have any tricks or tips when it comes to application?
